Abstract
:
User awareness is very essential due to users usually didn’t care too much about what happen in virtual environment. However, in serious game context, users should be more concern to the stimulation inside the serious game system. A lot of techniques like advanced modeling, 3D sound, and haptic have been invented for attracting user awareness in serious game. On this research, we intend to show the importance of avatar as believable character in serious game and virtual environment. As we know emotional avatar plays a vital role to improve the degree of realism in virtual reality games. We aim to create a realistic avatar based on haptic tactile frequency. The created avatar will be equipped with some intelligence and emotional features in order to support the learning process in virtual environment setting. We actualize our vision by using several level of emotion strengths are used where the created avatar express their emotion through tactile frequency and operated synchronously with the avatar facial expression, acoustic and action-reaction between avatars. Several experiments have been conducted based on several frequencies of haptic tactile to show the visibility of haptic emotional avatar expression. The result has proved that the use of several levels of emotion strengths is able to create believable avatar expression and improve the user awareness of serious game. This feature seems able to support users studying the educational material as well by letting them learn and interacting with avatar during the virtual environment exploration.
